FULL COMPLIANCE WITH AS/NZS 3760

All Inspection, testing and tagging is carried out in full compliance with AS/NZS 3760:2010 (and latest amendments) by professionally trained and competent technicians with a keen eye for electrical safety and the safety of those within your workplace or organisation.

We have the ability to undertake testing & tagging for both small and large organisations, workplaces and schools... Whether you only require a few items completed or a large complete contract with thousands of electrical appliances... We have the instruments, training and team to make it happen!

We offer a complete on-site service, meaning we come to you, to ensure as little down-time to the day to day running of your business, school or organisation as possible. We also offer out-of-business-hours services, allowing testing & tagging to be completed where we can cause as little disruption to your day as possible making it a convenient solution to you.

How long does it take for us to complete testing & tagging?

Generally it is possible to inspect, test and tag one item every 5 or so minutes as a guide only (sometimes less), however it depends on the actual appliance being tested, if any repairs are required, whether our staff need to dismantle the appliance (unplug equipment) etc in order to complete the inspection, test and tag.

How does Corton Audio charge for testing & tagging services?

As a guide we normally charge per appliance (tag), however this does not include workshop, repairs or equipment (plugs, sockets, cable etc), labour and cost associated with repairs is always in addition to the per-tag/appliance cost.

We often stock general items such as brand-new power boards, extension leads, IEC leads, clover leads, power adaptors/packs and other common items, this means if something fails we may have it in stock insuring the down-time to your business is again minimised considerably. If an item fails and we have it in stock, our team can swap it immediately for a brand new item (where we currently hold the item available on-site).

Is there a time-frame in which testing & tagging is required to be carried out?

Yes, Inspection, Testing & Tagging shall be undertaken as per outlined in AS/NZS 3760:2010.

This ranges from every 3-months to 5-years depending on the working environment and equipment location.  Alternatively your risk assessment may deem a shorter timeframe then those outlined in AS/NZS 3760:2010, however the maximum timeframe must not exceed those outlined within the standard (AS/NZS 3760:2010).

We offer testing of all items inclding single and three-phase, 10A, 15A, 20A, 32A etc.

How it works:

Corton Audio work hard to bring the most seamless solution to our clients & customers.

- Initial contact;

- Workplace/site visit to determine the best solution for your needs;

- Quotation/contract stage;

- Work undertaken;

- Test Tag Register sent to your nominated email address or provided to client;

- Electronic notification when items require re-test tag to ensure items remain compliant.

If an item fails:

If an item fails inspection or testing, it is immediately removed from service by our team and notified to you. Unfortunately we don't undertake any direct repairs on item/s unless we feel appropriate to keep the item's in service. A repair may be undertaken (such as fit and install a new plug where one has failed inspection), this may be done directly to allow the item to be repaired and taken back into service immediately. Alternatively we remove the item from service, alert the client and then can repair the item at a later date or provide the item to the client for removal off asset registers.

Important note:

It is important to note that when an item is inspected, tested and tagged it is only considered "safe" at that particular moment our team undertake test tag activities, We highly recommend you implement a visual inspection on every item, prior to use, as damages can occur to equipment minutes after we test them.

For an example: We have undertaken test tag activities at a school where an angle grinder was passed in the morning, by the afternoon one of our team walking back through the classroom to continue work could clearly see that the supply cable (power cable) to the electric grinder that was sitting on a table had the cable caught around the disc of the grinder causing severe damage to the supply cable. This item was removed from service by our team.

This scenario above does enforce the fact that individual inspection is paramount to the safety of those working around electrical equipment and just because it has a valid test tag, doesn't mean it is considered safe. Testing & tagging is only a specific undertaking to implement a way of the periodic checking, inspecting and testing of equipment. Our team have found thousands of unsafe, recalled and damaged items in workplaces over the years and it goes to show that testing & tagging is important in all workplaces.

Our team comprises of professional trained staff and also include: Audio Visual technicians, Electricians, Electronics technicians & Sound Engineers. Our team handle tools, electrical items and equipment daily, it's what we do and it's your guarantee the team behind your workplace safety - testing & tagging is there with you right from the start!
